Welcome to the GAIN/GROW Division Website.

The Greater Avenues for Independence (GAIN) Program is a large-scale welfare-to-work initiative that operates throughout Los Angeles County. GAIN is part of the larger California-wide CalWORKs welfare reform program that is operated in each of California’s counties under the supervision of the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS). In turn, CalWORKs is part of the Federal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program.

The purpose of the GAIN program is to assist welfare recipients in their effort to obtain economic self-sufficiency through employment. To help participants of the GAIN program achieve this purpose, the Los Angeles County Department of Social Services has contracted with the Los Angeles County Office of Education to provide Orientation/Motivation Services, Job Readiness and Career Planning Services, Vocational/Career Assessment Services, and Learning Disabilities Evaluation/Diagnosis Services to GAIN participants throughout Los Angeles County.

This website supports the data collection and reporting efforts of the Los Angeles County Office of Education GAIN/GROW Division. Use of this site is exclusively for GAIN program staff to efficiently share data and reports needed to maintain compliance with the various GAIN contracts the Los Angeles County Office of Education holds with the Department of Public Social Services.
